The contract for the construction of the central police building in Bergheim was awarded in 2020 to the bidding consortium Tecklenburg GmbH from Straelen and JBR Partner, Rotthoff - Nienhaus Architekten Partnerschaftsgesellschaft mbB from Münster. The company with the most cost-effective bid was awarded the contract out of several high-caliber applicants. In addition to the price, the Tecklenburg/JBR bidding consortium also impressed with the quality and functionality of the new office building.
At the signing of the lease on 11 May 2020, former district administrator Michael Kreuzberg emphasized: "I am very pleased to have found contractual partners in the Tecklenburg/JBR bidding consortium who, thanks to their many years of experience, will create a new building for the police that not only sets urban development accents in Bergheim, but also creates optimal conditions for the work of the police officers!"
The close and good cooperation with the city of Bergheim made it possible to provide a large plot of land close to the district hall and to create the necessary planning conditions. The new building will be constructed on Sportparkstrasse in Bergheim-Zieverich on a plot of land measuring approx. 19,000 m². The rental space comprises around 12,500 m².
Around 450 employees will work in the building in future. The leases for two properties in Hürth and the former police station in Bergheim will be terminated. The employees who have been working there to date will work in the new building in future. This includes the head of the police department with his management staff and the press office, the authority's commissioners, all heads of directorates with their management positions, the administration together with the weapons and assembly authority, the training center, all central crime commissioner's offices as well as the locally responsible regional commissioner's office, the crime watch, crime prevention, the northern police station, the traffic commissioner's office and the staff representatives.
The construction phase began on March 23, 2021 with the ground-breaking ceremony. The laying of the foundation stone on August 27, 2021 marked the start of the shell construction. As things currently stand, the building will be handed over to the police in mid-2023. Following the installation of the police technology and the complete refurbishment, the building is expected to be put into operation in the third quarter of 2023. During the planning phase, particular emphasis was placed on ensuring that, in addition to the new central office building, the local police stations are retained. Citizens will retain the police stations in the municipalities as their local contacts.
The key facts:
- 12,500 m² of rental space
- The office building will be equipped with the latest police technology
- More than 330 parking spaces and underground parking spaces are available for company vehicles and the vehicles of employees and visitors
- Sufficient bicycle parking spaces will be provided
- E-charging stations for company vehicles and visitors will be installed
- Greening of the outdoor areas and planting of trees
- The entire office building is barrier-free
- there will be a canteen with an outdoor area for employees, which will also be freely accessible to all citizens
- good public transport connections for citizens
