Experience reality. Really tough. A prevention campaign for more road safety

Emotional images, realistic depictions of actual accidents and haunting music - this is the stuff that contemporary accident prevention is made of. The campaign aims to sustainably reduce the number of serious road accidents involving young drivers.

"Crash Kurs NRW - Realität erfahren. Really tough" is aimed at young people and adolescents at secondary level 2 schools, vocational colleges and training centers. The events highlight the often cruel consequences of the killers in road traffic: Speeding, alcohol/drugs, distraction and not wearing a seatbelt in the car.

Crash Kurs NRW was launched in the Rhine-Erft district in November 2011. The events focus on emotions. The aim is to create a realistic awareness of danger among the young participants and to achieve a lasting positive change in behavior. Police officers, firefighters, emergency chaplains and emergency doctors talk about their experiences after serious road accidents. They talk about what they experienced at the scene of the accident, how they felt and the stress caused by a serious traffic accident. These actors, who want to save lives, relentlessly reveal their own limits. They describe how road accidents almost always happen because drivers disregard the rules. This also means that drivers can do something about it. The participants are made aware of their responsibility for themselves and other road users. Since its launch in the Rhine-Erft district, numerous crash course events have been held with several thousand participants. More will follow.
