In total, the authority distributes more than 400 devices, which are initially given to police officers on guard duty as personal equipment. This will be followed by police stations and other departments, which will share the devices.
The smartphones are intended to make everyday police work easier with various apps and demonstrate broader communication options.
The representing head of department of the police in the Rhein-Erft district, Mr. Kriminaldirektor Clauer, emphasized this aspect in particular: "Especially now in times of the Corona pandemic, smartphones are very useful for easier communication with each other."
Officers can use a messenger to exchange information and share important information for searches, for example. Images, texts and voice messages can be sent. In addition to the messenger function, documents and vehicle license plates can now be scanned with the camera and compared directly on site with the police's search database. The security of the apps has the highest priority. All applications are designed to protect data privacy.
In the future, there will also be an electronic notebook that will allow data to be transferred to the ad capture app.
