The total number of crimes reported in the Rhine-Erft district in 2023 is 32,891. Compared to the previous year, this corresponds to a decrease of 1,701 reported crimes.
The clearance rate of crimes reported is 52.08%, which corresponds to an increase of 4.66% compared to 2022. This figure is even higher than the previous 30-year record set by the Rhine-Erft district police authority in 2021.
The number of domestic burglary cases has risen compared to the previous year. With a total of 828 recorded domestic burglaries in 2023, there was an increase of 169 crimes compared to the previous year. In contrast, the clearance rate has risen significantly. The clearance rate in this crime area is 17.45%, which corresponds to an increase of 5.91% compared to the previous year.
The number of reported crimes against sexual self-determination fell from 626 cases in 2022 to 609 cases.
The number of robbery crimes fell compared to the previous year: there were 35 fewer crimes in 2023 than in the previous year. The total number fell from 273 offenses to 238 offenses.
As in the previous year, the number of narcotics offenses also fell significantly. Here, the number of cases fell from 2,276 to 1,581. In contrast, the clearance rate increased from 81.28% to 83.74%.
The area of violent crime fell from 1,144 offenses to 1,087 offenses, with the clearance rate increasing from 78.06% to 80.22%.
In the area of street crime, there was an increase from 7,322 offenses in 2022 to 7738 offenses in 2023. In contrast, the clearance rate increased significantly from 15.79% in 2022 to 19.15% in 2023.
In the area of burglary crime, an increase from 1,352 offenses to 1,546 offenses in 2023 was also recorded. This also includes the 828 cases of residential burglary mentioned above. The overall clearance rate here increased significantly from 9.84% to 15.72% in 2023.
The number of crimes against older people with trans-regional perpetrators (SÄM-ÜT) fell from 74 to 35. Only domestic offenses from the aforementioned crime area were taken into account here. Offenses committed from abroad in this area of crime increased from 426 in 2022 to 493 in the reporting year.
