(jd) A traffic accident occurred on Quernheimer Straße on Sunday (03.08.). A 23-year-old woman from Melle was driving her BMW in the direction of Lübbecke when she entered the Quernheimer Straße / Stiftstraße junction. At the same time, a 53-year-old man from Bünde was driving his Ford on Stiftstraße and intended to drive straight through the intersection in the direction of Remerloher Straße. As the traffic lights there showed a green light for him, the man from Bünde drove into the intersection. This led to a collision with the woman from Melle, for whose direction of travel the traffic lights were showing red, according to witnesses. Due to the force of the impact, the Ford spun and then crashed into two traffic signs before being pushed into the traffic lights. The 53-year-old was injured in the accident and taken to hospital by ambulance. The 23-year-old and two of her four passengers were also injured and were treated on site by the emergency services. The total damage to property amounted to around 23,000 euros.
